How did you discover collage?
I had a revelation about 2 years ago during an arts and crafts day with a friend when I was doing a mixed media project. I’ve been exploring this technique and discovering my style ever since.
What did you like about the collage medium?
I’m an artist with a strong rational side. Working on a composition from something that already exists allows me more creativity, without the self-censure that comes with drawing or painting.
How would you describe your style?
My approach to the collage experience is not about representing reality or changing it. I prefer to express myself by color, composition, and texture. It often begins with a human face or a feeling. I’m an intuitive artist and my art changes as I work. I’m searching for balance and an aesthetic, without seeking perfection. I prefer like smaller sized creations and fine little details.

Balance and aesthetic ( oops 2 words)
Where do you find you collage material? What are your favorite magazines?
I take magazines from people who don’t need them anymore. Otherwise, I keep all kinds of little things ( beads, wood, feathers) which I incorporate into my collages.
Any advice for a newcomer collagist?
As a beginner myself, it would be weird to give advice, but I will say first of all that you need to create for yourself, and if someone likes it, good for you!
