How did you discover collage?

Simply by experimenting by myself. I had never really seen any collage before I started. Strangely, I never thought it existed. I intuitively made a first collage work in a journal that I made and binded by hand.

What did you like about the collage medium?

Extract the meaning that we attach to objects by cutting them and taking them out of their context; make associations of ideas that I would not have thought of without the help of the images at hand; let my energetic personality shine through compositions of bright colors. Collage is the best medium that allows me to abandon myself into creativity.

How would you describe your style?

I question myself alot about the place of humans and their relation to its environment. I often propose characters related to objects and settings of nature, but always in a shattered composition. I like to play with colors and I often choose images by association of shades. It allows me, despite myself, to find unusual links. I also let myself be craddled by the absurd and the imaginary.

In one word, what makes you unique?

Explosion (of colors!)

Where do you find you collage material? What are your favorite magazines?

In second-hand stores, bookstores or from gifts. My favourites: the Châtelaine of the 70’s (a huge thank you to my friend for that!), the National Geographic, the fashion magazines and home decoration, pages of novel and of dictionary.

Any advice for a newcomer collagist?

Don’t be afraid to start and experiment. Also, refer to the work of several artists to learn about your own personal tastes and get inspired to go outside your comfort zone.
