How did you discover collage?

I started making collage when I was a teenager in journals of poetry inspired by music albums and videos of that time. About 5-6 years ago I found a box of these journals and got a laugh, some of it. I really liked so I photosopied it bigger, glued it to abstract backgrounds, and reintagrated collage back into art from there.

What did you like about the collage medium?

I like the story that unfolds withing the mind while creating or searching for the perfect image. You can take different clips from many different eras to convey one message.

How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as a walk through an alleyway, influenced by street art, mixed media pop/contemporary..

In one word, what makes you unique?

Purple.

Where do you find you collage material? What are your favorite magazines?

I have stacks of magazines I’ve been collecting since I was a teenager, some have been accross country with me and back. Most of my material comes from second-hand stores, what ever weird stuff I can find for inspiration. I like strange old vintage magazines, fetish magazines, and high fashion mags.

Any advice for a newcomer collagist?

Collect any image that sparks you and keep it, it maybe years down the road but someday you will have the perfect use for it. And ALWAYS experiment!
